Give a warm welcome to our brand new Smith matcha. We are thrilled to be working with the Katsura Tea Cooperative on this product, a tea farm that started in 1978 and currently has more than 40 tea farmers in their collective. Located in Gifu Prefecture Japan, we buy during the spring harvest season (April through June) when they produce a matcha of exceptional quality.
Our new matcha is made using shade grown green tea that is destemmed and deveined (called Tencha) before being granite milled into a fine powder. This gives it a brilliant green color with a rich, slightly sweet vegetal aroma with notes of spirulina, cashew and malt.
