Quite the treat!

This tea has become one that I look forward to! Its slight sweetness compliments the earthy flavor of the tea. I plan to stock up before it’s no longer sold.

What a treat!

This tea is my special treat to myself when I'm having a tough day or want to celebrate. The milk oolong is rich, the vanilla is sumptuous, and the beautiful pearl sugar adds just enough sweetness to highlight the flavors. I usually keep adding hot water to eek every last bit out of the bag. I live in fear that Smith will stop making this tea. I've gifted it to my favorite people for birthdays and holidays.

Extra Oolong

Great w an extra bag of oolong, but very mild in flavor otherwise. Although, I don’t dislike it alone, just prefer my tea stronger.

Delicious smell; no flavor

I bought this tea the first time around and agree with many reviewers that the tea itself is largely flavorless. The smell of it is exquisite and hits right out of the box with lovely vanilla and sarsaparilla notes, yet hardly any of that translates to the palate. I’ve even tried using sipping spoons and taking big sniffs in before I drink since smell is a large component of taste, but it does just sit like slightly buttery warm water on the tongue. With the flavor profile it has and the powerful flavors of other Smith oolongs, I was expecting a lot more from this tea. Afraid it’s suitable only as potpourri.

Bland

I had really high hopes for this tea because who doesn’t love ice cream? Upon opening the bag, it smelled delicious. I brewed 3 cups for myself, my mother, and my aunt and we all thought we were drinking just hot water. My mother and my aunt who have been avid tea drinkers for 40+ years agreed this was one of the worst teas they’ve tasted. I thought I had brewed it incorrectly and tried at least 2 more times and the flavor was still the same. Thought I had received a faulty batch but customer service was great in sending me a new one. Brewed it again and tasted the same. I guess that’s just how it’s supposed to taste. Very underwhelming and disappointing purchase.

Taiwan

Sarsaparilla

Indian Botanical

Sarsaparilla root from India is unlike sarsaparilla from other origins. It has a taste and aroma that is vanilla-like and creamy, making it ideal for use in chai and blends with rooibos, or simply enjoying by itself. A climbing plant that grows throughout India, the root is dug, washed, peeled and sun dried. The thicker roots of the sarsaparilla plant make the best and most flavorful brew.

Nilgiri

Nilgiri translates to "blue mountain". It is a range of mountains that are part of the larger Western Ghats and are located in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Southern India. With over 24 peaks reaching higher than 2,000 meters, it made this area perfect for growing tea and other botanicals, along with providing the British in the Raj era respite during India's long hot summers.
