BLACK TEA

The best teas from Yunnan (known as the birthplace of tea) are wiry and tightly twisted with distinct golden tips. This exquisite variety brews up rich amber-red in color, has a lightly sweet, floral flavor and aroma, and brings welcome notes of smoke, spice and leather.

Yunnan Black delicious

Yunnan Black is the best tea I have ever tasted. And I’ve done some tasting. Been a student of tea for decades (University of CA Davis International Tea Symposium, Sacramento City College Food Services tea class, and I teach a Tea 101 class in AZ).

Yunnan black tea

A solid black tea taste with a mild sweetness is fresh lemon is added. Yes, I am particular.

You had me at Yunnan

This was my first experience with any Yunnan black tea. I wasn't even sure what to expect. In the end I can reduce it down to a short statement - pure bliss. I had no idea this black tea tasted this way and seemingly overnight it's become one of my all-time favorites!

Yunnan loose tea

Excellent quality, long leaf black tea. Has balanced, earthy flavor.

Ingredients

Full leaf black tea from Yunnan Province of China.

Blend Numerology

“Satisfaction” and “longlasting” in Chinese, with a hint of the Beatles “Number 9."

Preparation

For best flavor, bring spring or freshly drawn filtered water to a boil (212 degrees). Steep 2 tsp (3 g) for five minutes. It will seem like the blink of an eye.

Chinese Black Tea

The best dian hongs, or black teas, from Yunnan (known as the birthplace of tea) are wiry and tightly twisted with distinct golden tips. This exquisite variety brews up rich amber-red in color, has a lightly sweet, floral flavor and aroma, and brings welcome notes of spice and leather.

Yunnan Province

Yunnan which translates to "South Cloud", is a province jammed into the South Western most part of China. Not only does it share international borders with Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam, but there is a constant cultural exchange in these border regions, which is distinct from the rest of mainland China. Tea was first cultivated in this region thousands of years ago and it still produces some pretty amazing teas. Our Yunnan is harvested in spring.
