Feast Portland is our city’s premier food and drink festival. Founded in 2012, this 4-day event features the best that the culinary world has to offer: large-scale tastings, engaging hands-on classes, collaborative dinners and more. Smith Teamaker is excited to both sponsor and actively participate in several Feast programs, including two classes on Sunday, September 17th. The first is a Palate Cross Training class hosted in our Southeast Tasting Room, during which you will learn precise and romantic descriptors to discuss tastes and flavors. Later we collaborate with our friends at Bull in China in a Spiked Tea class to craft some deliciously intoxicating cocktail recipes. Find tickets and information on Feast Portland’s website.

Workshop Schedule

If you visit our Southeast Tasting Room, you will find Claire, our Tea Lab Manager, brewing elixirs and formulating blends alongside our Head Teamaker. To share her passion for curating unique experiences around teas, Claire has organized a workshop she’s calling The Art of Tea Blending. This workshop will focus specifically on black tea blending. Claire will give a brief overview of the 5 main types of tea, then lead a tasting of several premium black teas (with a few flowers and oils) while highlighting the qualities and flavors of each. She finishes this one-of-a-kind experience by helping you to create your very own black tea blend that you can take home to enjoy with loved ones.

Due to popular demand we’ve decided to combine flavor forces with our friends at Salt & Straw for another delicious Sparkling Tea Float event. Choose between some of Salt & Straw’s signature ice cream concoctions and pair a scoop with Nitro Chai, Sparkling Strawberry Honeybush, our new Blackberry Brahmin or limited edition Pu-Erh Rootbeer. This time we will even have a dairy-free roasted coconut and strawberry ice cream option. Smith Teamaker will be serving sparkling tea at the second annual Polo Noir.

This day-long event features two live polo matches, two musical performances from 3x Grammy Award Winner Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, as well as local Portland singer-songwriter Redray Frazier, spectacular Willamette Valley wine from Domaine Serene, and experiences from a host of other partners such as Tiffany & Co., Porsche, NIKE, Veuve Clicquot, Widmer Bros., Beam Suntory Spirits, Stumptown Coffee, Steven Smith Tea, San Pellegrino, and Provenance Hotels. The event has already been established as The Highlight of Summer.

International Pinot Noir Celebration

Head Teamaker Tony Tellin will be teaching a class on flavor profiles.

The International Pinot Noir Celebration is an annual event held in the heart of Oregon’s wine country that promises a weekend of seminars, tastings and tours, all dedicated to one of Oregon’s favorite varietals. This event is “unquestionably the greatest for lovers of Pinot Noir” according to Bon Appetit, and Tony will be teaching a Palate Cross-Training course covering the subtle nuances in aromas, flavors, and tasting notes. Join him for a discussion aimed at increasing your descriptive vocabulary and developing a firsthand impression of key ingredients used to describe both wines and teas.

Celebrate and learn about tea in all its forms as you sample our Ali Shan Oolong, Peppermint Leaves, Lord Bergamot, and Mao Feng Shui loose leaf teas and herbal infusions. Summer has arrived and we are ready to welcome the warm weather with one of our favorite decadent combinations: delicious ice cream and our signature teas on draft. Start with a scoop of Double Folded Vanilla or Honey Lavender, then top it with our creamy Nitro Chai or sweet Sparkling Strawberry Honeybush tea. Bai Mu Dan Badam Latte & Nitro London Fog Complimentary Tasting

Our newest seasonal latte, Bai Mu Dan Badam is a twist on a traditional Middle Eastern beverage. A bright and aromatic latte with a custom blended mixture of saffron, cardamom, creamy almonds and a concentrate of our No.88 Bai Mu Dan white tea. Paired with milk and a dash of rose water. Slightly sweet, delicious hot or iced. Perfect for spring.

Our newest seasonal draft tea is our Nitro London Fog - a classic London Fog made from our No.55 Lord Bergamot black tea and whole bourbon vanilla beans, brewed to perfection and served on nitro. This creamy and effervescent drink is dairy free with the option to add a splash of milk or cream. (Available at our Southeast location only). A complimentary tasting of these two special, summer tea beverages will take place from 4-6pm on Friday, June 16th at 110 SE Washington.
