Origin & Ingredients
Hibiscus flower, or jamaica, as it is known in Central America, is cultivated specifically as an herb for tea in China, Thailand and the Sudan, where it is smuggled into Egypt and sold as Egyptian Hibiscus. We particularly like the smuggled variety – it is brighter, fruitier, tastier, and more exciting to purchase. High in vitamin C, hibiscus is tart, deep red, and slightly earthy with concord grape-like characteristics. Shop for Steven Smith Teas, No.19 Hibiscus Flower, or blended in No.24 Big Hibiscus.
