Below we share with you our favorite iced tea beverages to enjoy in the summer time. Enjoy Smith Iced Tea with seasonal stone fruit, with mint and basil as a garnish or muddled in, add slices of cucumber or lemon, play around with botanicals like lavender, or create your own tea infused vodka. There are many possibilities and all of them are quite refreshing and great for single servings or to make a pitcher and share with a group on the patio in the sunshine.

Blood Orange Sparkling Iced Tea

For National Iced Tea Day (June 10th) we celebrated with a special drink that we served in our Tasting Rooms. This drink is fantastic with muddled blood oranges, if you have trouble finding them you can substitute for grapefruit and add some lemon to brighten up the drink. You may need to adjust for sweetness to your preference. Enjoy and have fun. This recipe makes one pint glass serving.

Ingredients: Big Hibiscus Iced Tea or Exceptional Black Iced Tea, blood oranges or grapefruit, lemon, mint and/or basil, simple syrup, ice.

1. Using Big Hibiscus Iced Tea or Exceptional Black Iced Tea - steep one of our Smith quart-sized sachets in 16oz of boiling water to create a concentrate

2. Steep for 5 minutes

3. Slice blood oranges about 1/4 of an inch thick and cut in half

4. Combine both halves of blood orange slices and either a mint or basil leaf in the bottom of a pint glass. (We suggest basil paired with Exceptional and mint paired with Big Hibiscus)

5. Muddle until incorporated

6. Add ice up to the top of the glass

7. Add 1oz of simple syrup

8. Add iced tea concentrate all the way up to 1 inch from the top of the glass

9. Top with sparkling mineral water (we suggest Topo Chico)

10. Stir before serving to incorporate everything evenly

11. Garnish with a lemon wedge

Big Hibiscus Lemonade


Tart, fruity, sweet and delightfully refreshing. Making this drink is as simple as it gets: you will need lemonade, our Smith Big Hibiscus Iced Tea (which comes in specially packed quart-sized sachets), filtered water and ice. Makes about 4 glasses.

Ingredients: Big Hibiscus Iced Tea, lemonade, ice

1. Steep one of our Smith quart-sized sachets in 16oz of boiling water to create a concentrate. Steep for 5 minutes and then remove the sachet and discard

2. Fill cups up with ice

3. Pour lemonade into cups about half way full*

4. Pour Big Hibiscus over the lemonade up to the top

5. Give it a stir to incorporate

*Lemonade Note: We tested a few different homemade lemonade recipes as well as using store bought Simply Lemonade - it all comes down to how much acidity you prefer to sweetness. A fun presentation and approach to this recipe is to place lemon slices on the bottom of every glass and muddle it with simple syrup or a bit of white cane sugar and then pour water or sparkling water to fill half way up the glass and then top the other half off with Big Hibiscus Iced Tea.

Fez Iced Green Tea With Cucumber & Lemon


Our Moroccan-style green tea, Fez, brewed to perfection and served ice cold with sliced cucumber, lemon and sprigs of fresh lavender.  This iced tea is refreshing and soothing. This recipe makes one quart-sized serving.

Ingredients: Fez Iced Tea, cucumbers, lemons, ice.

1. Brew Smith Fez Iced Tea*

2. Slice cucumbers and lemons

3. Combine all ingredients together over ice in glasses individually or in a quart-sized pitcher

*For our Fez Iced Tea, bring freshly filtered water to about 180 or 190 degrees. Without a thermometer, this can be achieved by letting boiling water cool for about 2 minutes (varies depending on your vessel's ability to retain heat). Pour about 1 1/2 cups (350ml) of water into your steeping vessel first, then add the tea. This is called "bringing tea to water" (as opposed to bringing water to tea for black teas and herbal infusions). After 3 minutes, remove and discard the tea. Add about 2 1/2 cups (600ml) of cool water to the concentrate to lower the temperature. Once the tea has reached room temperature, pour over ice and enjoy. Visit How to Brew Iced Tea to learn more.

Our signature Exceptional Iced Black Tea is a special blend full leaf Ceylon and Indian black teas that are rounded and smooth when steeped - formulated perfectly to pour over ice for a rich and refreshing taste. We also offer a minty Fez Iced Green Tea, and scarlet Big Hibiscus Iced Herbal Tea.
