Matcha

About Matcha

The traditional tea of the Japanese tea ceremony, made from finely powdered green tea leaves. Matcha has a clean, slightly sweet vegetal flavor and aroma and brilliant green color. For best flavor, bring freshly drawn water to 175℉. Add between one half and one teaspoon of Matcha per cup. Whisk vigorously for at least 30 seconds.

Matcha Latte Recipe

  1. Measure 1 teaspoon of Matcha powder and sift into 12oz latte cup.
  2. Add 1oz of 175 degree water to create a concentrate.
  3. Mix with electric frother or Matcha whisk to remove any clumps.
  4. Add simple syrup to taste.
  5. In a chilled metal pitcher, steam 8-9oz of milk until bottom of pitcher becomes nearly too hot to touch or until thermometer reaches 150℉.
  6. Pour steamed milk into Matcha concentrate, create latte art if desired.

 

Iced Matcha Latte Recipe

  1. Measure 1 teaspoon of Matcha powder and sift into 12oz latte cup.
  2. Add 1oz of 175℉ water to create a concentrate.
  3. Mix with electric frother or Matcha whisk to remove any clumps.
  4. Add simple syrup to taste.
  5. Pour 8-9oz of cold milk over Matcha concentrate.
  6. Pour mixture over ice and enjoy.
