Digital Content Strategist

Based At: Smith Teamaker (Portland, OR)

Position Reports To: Katie Burnett, Brand Manager

Job Description 

We are looking for a full-time digital content strategist and passionate storyteller to bring our brand to life in the digital space. This role will work alongside the Brand Manager and Director of Ecommerce to develop compelling content that supports company objectives and growth goals. You stay one step ahead of social trends and bring an editor’s eye to content development. You bring creative energy to the table, and are always looking for fresh angles to sell our products and promote our brand.

Day to day responsibilities include managing all aspects of social media such as planning, content development and flawless delivery of engaging material, in addition to drafting copy for SmithTea.com and our weekly newsletter.

Key Responsibilities & Job Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of social media channels (content creation, execution, management, and customer engagement) with an emphasis on Facebook, Instagram and Instagram Stories.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning for social media, SmithTea.com and email newsletters.
  • Recommend and implement strategy to increase social media likes/followers and increase overall engagement.
  • Work closely with Ecomm Director to develop content that drives sales and email newsletter open rate and CTR.
  • Work closely with Brand Manager on developing content strategy and storylines that reinforce key brand messaging points.
  • Cross promote content with lifestyle and recipe bloggers to create inspirational posts.
  • Create monthly metric reports to monitor ongoing campaigns.
  • Stay on top of trends and generate a strong understanding of our audience channels.
  • Create first-hand visual assets with on-the-fly photo and videoshoots in our manufacturing facility, tea lab and tasting room.
  • Coordinate photoshoots with staff photographer and videographer.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years minimum relative experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Marketing, Digital, Communications, Journalism) or equivalent job experience
  • Expert, professional knowledge of digital and social media platforms and strategy
  • Excellent collaborative teamworking skills

Tasting Room Director

Based At: Smith Teamaker (Portland, OR)

Position Reports To: Amy Yukas, VP of Marketing

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this role will manage our 2 current Tasting Room locations as well as drive the process of growth and expansion. This hands-on role will be instrumental in executing the next phase of what the Smith Teamaker retail experience will look and feel like. Provide strong leadership and inspiration to staff to maximize performance and ensure exceptional customer service. Currently, the Tasting Rooms have 10 employees including a manager and an assistant manager. This role will be instrumental in managing and growing the current business, developing and proving the new concept as well as executing that new concept as we expand within Portland and other key cities around the world.

Accountabilities

Existing Stores

  • Responsible for the maximization of revenue, profitability and productivity for existing Tasting Room locations.
  • *Accountable for performance, budget, forecast, and target goals. Responsible for ensuring that all personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately and on time.
  •  Ensure quality and consistency of every product served and sold meets Smith brand standards.
  •  Collaborate with cross functional teams
  •  Assist in promotion & marketing of the Tasting Rooms.
  •  Develop, implement and maintain standard operating policies and procedures for training, preparation and execution of beverages in the Tasting Rooms. Provide overall direction and oversee all safety programs.
  •  Develop metrics for success for team and channel. Manage and measures performance of direct reports. Coach and mentor staff and establish longer-term professional development plans.
  •  Oversee the development and implementation of training programs and content for Tasting Room staff working closely with marketing and tea department teams.
  • Evolve existing Tasting Room(s) over time to maximize experience and profitability.
  • Develop ideal service model, operational design and process, staffing requirements and menu development for both existing and new execution.

New Concept

  •  Contribute and partner with the executive team in the developing of the next generation of Smith retail experience
  •  Manage and execute testing of the new concept(s) which will include strategic partnerships with consultants and/or food service partners
  • Lead the implementation and scaling of the proven concept in multi-city expansion

 

Requirements

  • At least 10 years manager experience in a full service, high volume dining establishment
  • Additional experience in regional or multi-unit management is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of front and back of house operations including food, beverages, staff supervision, inventory, food safety, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • Strong understanding of cost and labor systems that lead to restaurant profitability
  • Strong communication and leadership skills combined with advanced computer and math skills Stable and progressive work history; Strong work ethic
  • Passion and proven ability in building a positive, supportive, and inspiring culture for employees.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Capable of streamlining and improving processes, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment and is comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.

 

Location: Portland, Or. There is no relocation package for this position.
