Tried and true, we first released this invigorating turmeric herbal infusion as a Limited Edition blend earlier this year, and it’s been one of our most popular offerings ever since. We can hardly blend it fast enough! “When we started formulating Golden Light, I wanted to create a turmeric tea that stood up to my memories of the Golden Milk that was served in the Ashrams I grew up in,” notes Head Teamaker, Ravi Kroesen. Rather than letting some of turmeric’s restorative properties go to waste, we added whole black pepper kernels to this blend to boost the body’s natural ability to absorb the rich deposits of curcumin found in turmeric. Curcumin is thought to be a strong antioxidant with both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Nuggets of rejuvenating cardamom and caramelly sarsaparilla root add undertones of vanilla and spice to this already gilded blend. We’ve found that Golden Light is as good in a latte (generously sweetened with honey) as it is over ice. However you prepare it, this uncommon turmeric tea will provide a surplus of flavor, satisfaction, and good ol’ TLC.

In the spirit of transparency, a core value here at Smith, we have deconstructed the organic ingredients in Golden Light below, sharing how each individual ingredient contributes to the final infusion:

Turmeric: With unexpected notes of orange and ginger, turmeric can make a wonderful addition to many dishes and beverages (“Golden Milk” being our Head Teamaker’s favorite among them). This superfood and adaptogen is also appreciated by many for its anti-inflammatory properties and is known to support overall wellness.

Sarsaparilla Root: One of the most unique ingredients in the Smith atelier, sarsaparilla is known as the fountainhead of American root beer. It features a wide range of tasting notes, including caramel, vanilla, wintergreen, and licorice. What’s more, this unusual root is also known to be an abundant source of natural immunity boosting properties.

Cardamom: Often combined with turmeric, cardamom is intensely aromatic, with hints of sweet smoke and cool mint. Some studies suggest that the aromatherapeutic properties of cardamom may increase oxygen intake by relaxing the muscles in the respiratory system.

Black Pepper: In addition to adding smoke and spice to Golden Light, black pepper kernels help the body absorb the rich deposits of curcumin found in turmeric. Curcumin is thought to be a strong antioxidant with both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Lemon Essential Oil: Extracted from fresh lemon peels, lemon essential oil augments the citrusy flavors of some of the other ingredients in Golden Light. Much like lavender and rose essential oils, lemon essential oil is thought to provide aromatherapeutic benefits by relieving stress and boosting overall mood.
