Hao Ya is one of the finest grades of Keemun tea from the mountainous Anhui Province in China. It has a thin, wiry, tightly twisted leaf with a slightly smoky flavor and aroma. Excellent straight or with milk and sugar.

Excellent, as always

I have regularly purchased the Keemun and the Assam teas for over 7 years and the excellent quality has never varied. The Keemun has a deep complex flavor that I find exciting.

Love this tea!

This tea is exactly as described in the flavor profile. It is a lighter black tea, perfect for late morning or in the afternoon.

Excellent tea!

I’ve only recently discovered Smith tea and I have quickly become a huge fan. The teas are very good. This Keemun is no exception. This will be a great tea to have when the weather gets cooler here in a few months as this tea has some very prominent notes of Fall spices.

Not too good

I have been searching online for a replacement for Twinings Prince of Wales tea, which has suddenly become unavailable for purchase in a loose tea form, and which describes itself as a blend of Keemun tea from Anhui Province in China. Since this tea is Keemun black tea from Anhui Province, I thought it might be a good substitute. However, it certainly is not! This Smith tea is 4 times the price and one quarter of the quality. Also, 4 oz. of the Smith occupies a much smaller volume than the PoW, which means that the leaf size is much smaller.

It hasn’t arrived yet, but...

I live in the Eastern Caribbean and things arrive slower than emails and promotional prods like this one. But let’s face it, Smith tea is like a new book from a favorite author. You’re going to like it. You can write the blurb for the book jacket before cracking it open. The leaves are lovely, long deep hued. Full bodied with hints of something you can’t quite name... leather, mushroom, rich soil. Wonderful breakfast tea, straight up, blended with Ceylon or Assam, or milk even.

Keemun

Chinese Black Tea

Keemun tea is grown in the mountainous region of Eastern China called Anhui Province. There are many grades of Keemun, with Hao Ya being one of the best. Keemun Hao Ya has a very thin, wiry and tightly twisted leaf that is black with grey hues. This brings a unique, slightly smoky flavor and aroma that reminds us of camping on the Oregon coast. A great self drinking tea, tasty neat or with milk and sugar.

Qimen County

Qimen County is located in western Huang Shan Shi Prefecture in southern Anhui Province of China, and is famous for making one of the world's best black teas—Keemun. The county is still very rural compared to other parts of China, so it's the perfect place to slow down, kick up your feet and drink some fantastic tea. Harvest times are in the Spring and Summer.
